Happy Birthday, Logan!

We spent the afternoon at Cooper's cousin's 2nd birthday party. Then we went and looked at the land we couldn't find the other night. Found it. Not impressed. And way too expensive.

Cooper gets over it, because he doesn't want to be a party pooper.

Doctor, Doctor give me the news

Cooper had his 4 month visit to the doctor's office yesterday. He got several shots, but thankfully he's doing better than last time. Vital Statistics: 26 inches long, 15 lbs 3 oz.

Cooper is completely healthy except he has a mild case of torticollis. One side of his head is a little flatter than the other, so it's a little difficult for him to turn his head all the way to the right. We just have to put him to sleep on his side and make him play with toys on his right side, so that his head develops properly and the neck muscles stretch a little bit more.

The doc told us to start him on regular baby food. Squash. Hmmm. Yum.

He got Batman bandaids for his shots, but none of the other photos came out.

Buckwheat and the Texas dude

My favorite title for a post ever.

Tonight we went out into the sticks to look at some acreage for sale. A week or so ago, I casually mentioned to Micole that I wouldn't mind finding some land out in the country, 5, 10, 20 acres or so, and then building a house. Last night she finds this piece of farmland about 40 minutes from my job. 32 acres. The price is very low (which is of course our price range). Hmm. What's wrong with it? Let's go look at it and see.

We mapped it out on Mapquest and made our way out to look at it after work. Mapquest actually got us there. If you use Mapquest, you have like a 50/50 chance of actually getting to the place you want. It might not be that bad, but it's gotten me lost more than once.

So we get there. It looked like decent land, but it was impossible to determine the boundaries of these 32 acres. It is very possible that the property is 1 acre wide by 32 acres long. Micole wound up calling the real estate company on the phone. She asked about the property. The agent Micole talked to wasn't familiar with the property but looked up some info on the computer. The agent tells us that a sale is pending on the property. Oh well. Not that interested in the property yet anyways.

The agent referred us to another property in another town. 17 acres, but a much higher price (not our price range). Agent says that the buyer is likely willing to subdivide into smaller parcels. So we wouldn't get as much land but we'd definitely be able to afford our minimum. We decide to go see the property.

Micole asks the agent for her name and number. Micole tells me to write down the information. Okay, 555-5555, Jewell Buckwheat. Micole got the name wrong. Agent corrects her. It's "Buckley". Sorry Micole says.

"Did you just call the agent Buckwheat?", I asked.

"Yes, I did."

"That's funny."

"Yeah, it is."

"You should've asked for Spanky and Alfalfa."

We laughed about this several times. Probably doesn't come out the same on this page, but we enjoyed it immensely.

We visited Grandpa Mike, Uncle Andrew, and Uncle Tim since we were in their neck of the woods. We had a peaceful little visit, and then got directions to the next property from their computer.

When we finally got on the road, we follow the directions, but we think we get lost. Can't really tell, because the road we were supposed to follow seemingly disappeared as we were on it. Really. We're on route whatever and then we're not. No signs telling us which way to go. Micole though is a genius. She decides to get directions at the Chevron gas station. She pulls along side this guy and asks if he knows how to get to the road we're looking for.

I know it's a fruitless exercise when she asks it. He replies "No, Darlin', I don't know where it's at. " I knew he would say this, considering that his license plate was from Texas. Of course, Micole tried to ask him again on another route.

"Honey", I says, "He's from Texas. He doesn't know where to find the road."

"Oh."

Then we had another good laugh. We then gave up looking for the property, because it was getting late, the dog hadn't been walked, Cooper needed to eat some rice cereal (which he ate all of it for the second straight day, Mommy tells me) and have a bath, the garbage cans needed to be returned to the garage, and we had to go get my car from the bus park and ride. And of course... I had to upload Cooper's pics for the day and blog this.

I can't wait until the day he walks to me, but at the same time I can wait. I love seeing him grow and develop, but I also love just seeing him be a baby.

Grabby

Cooper's latest development is that he grabs almost anything that he can see, which means you can't leave a bowl of cereal within his reach or it will wind up all over his high chair. It also means your hair or lip may be pulled in an excruciatingly painful way. It also means that he may try to flash your wife's chest to everyone in the ice cream store. It means all of these things and so much more.

Yesterday was Cooper's 4 monthday or 1/3rd birthday. We got a German Chocolate brownie to celebrate. We also went to Mommy's classroom to prepare it for the coming school year.
