Soccer 2011

For a long time, we didn't have a good camera. That's part of the reason I haven't posted as much in the last few years. The other part of that is I've just gotten lazy with it. We got a nice Canon Rebel earlier in the summer and I've been using it more frequently, so I expect new pics to show on a more regular basis henceforth... So let's begin...

The boys had their first outdoor soccer game this past Saturday. This is U8 league. Colton is playing up a level (so that we don't have to take the boys to 2 games). This is the first year that they actually keep score. They won 4-1. So at least we know they won't be that unlucky team that doesn't win a game.

While I'm not the biggest fan of soccer, it is a fairly easy game to teach to a youngster. In baseball there's hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, 9 different positions, various situations to teach about, etc. In soccer you can put a kid out there and pretty much say kick the ball over that way and they can figure out what to do on their own in short order. It's not as simple as that per se, but at that young of age it kind of is.
